Tara Kwok
Artist of the Season: summer 2022
ARTIST STATEMENT
My name is Tara Kwok, and I am currently studying interior design at Indiana University. As a kid, I was always interested in creating drawings and colors, but never had the time to do it while I did gymnastics. Once I began to lose passion for the sport, I was drawn to art. It began with drawing simple shapes, which then led to animals and people being drawn in different mediums. I was finally doing something that I was passionate about again. My parents and Jeanna Fearon, owner of Shine Bright in Life, saw the potential in my drawings and encouraged me to start painting. Painting has centered my attention on smaller details in everything. I learned how to use color and texture to put a piece together. It was amazing to see how the placement of a few dots could bring life to a face or a simple stroke could set a scene in motion. The arts have influenced my life more than I can imagine and I’ve learned to appreciate all forms of art.
