Journaling with The Sun & Moon: Your Cosmic Support System
As an Art Therapist and a Hypnotherapist, I have been blessed to work with the coolest people ever while also having a fascinating time studying what I love so much - art, healing, and the brain! Working with clients for over twenty five years now, I have learned so much about how people work and how people grow. Using a combination of art, writing, and simple techniques to help the brain adapt to change, I’ve witnessed people heal, reach their goals, and become more in tune with their true, divine selves. At this point in time, I feel the call to find ways to share some of my learnings so that more people can understand some of these simple yet very effective ways to work through the ups, downs, and cycles of life.
Last year, in 2024, we produced our first guided journal with the intention to provide a self-care resource for people who enjoy working with art, writing, and the cycles of nature. We also hosted Zoom groups on the Full Moons, New Moons, and Solar Holidays to hold a safe, reliable space for those who wished to connect with others and work together in community. We are so grateful for all of you who joined us and made our community so amazing!
After a year of programming and watching people use last year’s journal, we have modified our content to adapt to what we’ve noticed and learned. One of the things I found is that it’s hard for most people to journal daily. The demands of life cause a lot of us to forfeit self-care because we are just too tired or just too busy. I get that, and I feel that way sometimes too. So keeping time in mind, I’ve created a little journaling system that doesn't take too much time but has a lot of power in its punch. Based on what I have found to be most successful in my practice, I have combined some simple art activities, hypnotic techniques, and minimal writing prompts to help you most effectively be your best self!
For journaling accountability, we use small check-ins that are aligned with the Moon, Sun, and natural cycles of nature. Practicing working with these natural cycles helps us learn to manage the more complicated cycles we go through in our personal life.
To use this journal effectively, my estimation of a time commitment is 2.5 hours of self-care per month. There are approximately 730 hours a month, so this is an average of less than 5 minutes of self-care per day. Some days may be more, some days may be less - but 5 minutes a day is a very small price to pay for better mental health! We are here to help support you in this journey!
If you’d like to work with your journal in community, we welcome you to join our support groups on Zoom at every New Moon, Full Moon, Solstice, and Equinox. If you prefer to work alone that is just fine too! We do suggest that you team up with a self-care bestie and check in with each other regularly. Having a supportive friend can make all the difference in the world. Even if you just send a text, that little point of connection could make someone’s day!
We look forward to working with those who choose to journal with us! Our highest intention is for you to Shine Bright as YOU and we are honored to be part of your journey! - Gigi
